****************** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*******************
The Marietta Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) is currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on I-75 northbound at the Allgood Road Bridge at 1:48pm on Saturday, April 14, 2012. The initial investigation revealed that a Silver, 2009 Honda Goldwing motorcycle, operated by Roy Hendrix, 74, of Jasper, was travelling northbound on I-75 in the right lane. A landscaping truck travelling in the same lane blew a tire and the Goldwing motorcycle and another vehicle swerved to avoid tire debris. Hendrix lost control of the motorcycle and crashed onto the roadway. Hendrix was rushed to Kennestone Hospital with life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation at this time, but no charges are expected to be taken against any of the other drivers. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Geoff Culpepper at (770)794-5357.
