Valley Springs Vehicle Pursuit Ends in the Arrests of Six Adults

(Valley Springs, CA) On 04/11/12 at approx. 10:15 A.M. Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies attempted a vehicle enforcement stop on a pick-up truck for expired registration near California and Daphne Streets in Valley Springs. The truck failed to yield and increased its speed, headed towards Watertown Road, then on towards the town of Paloma. While being pursued through Paloma, one of the truck’s passengers, Jeremy Davis (34) of Tracy, jumped from the moving vehicle. The pursuit then continued back towards Valley Springs where the truck finally came to a stop due to mechanical failure.

Two adult males, Eric Sosa (33) of Valley Springs and Eric Hotvedt (22) of Valley Springs, were detained at the vehicle stop. Mr. Sosa was arrested as the driver of the vehicle. During the arrest Mr. Sosa was found to be in possession of nearly a half ounce of methamphetamine packaged for sales. Mr. Sosa was recently released from state prison as a PRCS client per State Assembly Bill 109. He was released from PRCS on February 5, 2012 as time served upon completion of his ankle monitoring program.

Mr. Hotvedt, another passenger in the truck, was released from the scene. Additional responding deputies and detectives who responded to the Paloma area were directed to the location of where Mr. Davis was reportedly hiding. Mr. Davis was soon located hiding inside Mr. Sosa’s residence in Paloma. He was arrested for resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

During the search of Mr. Sosa’s residence for Jeremy Davis several other people were contacted and arrested for charges unrelated to the pursuit. Iran Cortes (30) of Stockton, who was found to be in possession of 30-40 people’s personal identification information, including social security numbers, names and dates of birth. Ms. Cortes was also found to be in possession of an additional 30-40 people’s personal medical record information which could all be used in identity theft. Ms. Cortes was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and had a warrant for her arrest out of San Joaquin County. Jewel Valdes (23) of Manteca, was contacted at the residence and arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Brandon Wisuri (29) of Stockton was found to be a state parolee, and was arrested on a parole hold. During the investigation Joseph Camacho (32) of Pioneer arrived at the residence. During a search of Mr. Camacho methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located. Mr. Camacho was cited and released.

This investigation is ongoing with more information to be released as it develops.

With the exception of Mr. Camacho, the below subjects were arrested and booked into the Calaveras County on the following charges:

Eric Sosa (PRCS): 11550 (A) H&S, 23152 (A) CVC, 11377 H&S, 11378 H&S, 11379 H&S, 2800.3 CVC, 11364 H&S, 11351 H&S, and 3455 PC

Iran Cortez: 11550 H&S, 530.5 (C)(3) PC, and a San Joaquin County warrant

Jewel Valdes: 11550 PC

Brandon Wisuri: 3056 PC

Jeremy Davis: 148 PC

Joseph Camacho (Cited and released): 11377 H&S, and 11364 H&S
