COMMUNITY EVENT - BEAT THE STREETS WITH SOCCER
All proceeds from this event will go towards funding the S.S. PORT team to travel to New York City where they will compete in the Street Soccer USA Cup this summer. Players will also vie for a spot on the national team which will compete in the Homeless World Cup in Mexico City, Mexico this fall( www3.homelessworldcup.org). The event will take place on May 12th from noon until 4pm at Wide World Sports Center located at 2140 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor 48103 (www.wideworld-sports.com/)
This year’s event will combine the annual WCSO vs. S.S. PORT’s match: “Beat the Streets with Soccer”, and the Kevin Polk Memorial Midwest tournament highlighted by the participation of 4-5 other homeless soccer teams from across the country. The entire tournament will feature Street Soccer style soccer, a much quicker game on a smaller field with 4 players on each team.
The game is open to the public and is free to attend. A suggested $5.00 ticket/raffle donation can be obtained at the door; those that donate you will be entered into the raffle to win one of over several raffle prizes that have been donated by local Washtenaw County retailers. You do not need to be present to win. T-shirts and sweatshirts will also available for sale starting at $15.00.
