Governor Walker approves US 10 improvements in Wood County
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed an $16.8 million contract to improve approximately 12 miles of US 10 between White Oak Road and Trestik Road. Construction is currently scheduled to begin on April 30.
Trierweiler Construction and Supply Company, Inc., of Marshfield, is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will pave the new alignment of US 10 from White Oak Road to Trestik Road.
Construction is scheduled for completion by late October 2012. During construction, existing US 10 will remain open to two lanes of traffic.
WIS 186 will be closed and detoured for 14 days. Traffic will be detoured via WIS 13 and US 10. Several local roads will also be closed during project construction for a maximum of 10 consecutive days each to allow the concrete paving to be completed. Watch for further information on these closures/detours.
This is one of the last contracts in a series of projects to construct a four-lane, divided highway between Marshfield and Stevens Point. After paving operations are complete, crews will switch traffic to all four lanes of the new alignment of US 10 by the end of August 2012.
Twenty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 80 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
