DATE / TIME OCCURRED: 3/25/2012 1:09 am

LOCATION: Pagano’s Bar – 14830 Washington Avenue

INVESTIGATING DETECTIVE(S): Detective J. Brum

SUSPECT(S): Dario Santana Trevino

DETAILS:

On Sunday, March 25, 2012 1:09 am, the San Leandro Police Department received 9-1-1 calls regarding a shooting that took place at Pagano’s Bar. Responding Officers stopped a car a few blocks south of the crime scene on Washington Avenue. Officer determined this car had just left the bar parking lot. The shooting victim, Juanquin Esver (24), was inside this vehicle and had suffered a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. Medical personnel arrived on scene and the victim was subsequently transported to the hospital.

As Officers were interviewing witnesses, they determined the shooting took place just outside the front door of the bar. Officers interviewed several witnesses who provided a description of the shooting suspect. This information was broadcast to other field units. Witnesses indicated the suspect, along with another male associate, fled on foot, north on Washington Avenue.

At 1:38 am, Officers saw two male subjects, one of whom matched the suspect description, walking in the area of Floresta Boulevard and Del Monte Way. This location is approximately one mile north of the crime scene. These two subjects were detained and witnesses were brought from Pagano’s Bar to this detention location. One of the two male subjects, Dario Santana Trevino, was positively identified as the shooting suspect. Trevino was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

The victim’s medical condition was unknown at the time of this writing. There were no other victims identified at the scene.

It appears that this shooting stemmed from an argument/altercation that started inside the bar between several female patrons. The victim and suspect were associates of these females.

MEDIA UPDATES WILL BE MADE AS INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.
