PRESS RELEASE

DATE / TIME OF RELEASE: 3/25/2012 9:15am CRIME: Shooting

PRESS RELEASE OFFICER: Lt. Rick DeCosta TELEPHONE: (510) 577-3242

DATE / TIME OCCURRED: 3/23/2012 1:37am

LOCATION: EZ Shop – 650 Mac Arthur Boulevard

INVESTIGATING DETECTIVE(S): Detective Sergeant T. Henderson

SUSPECT(S): Unknown

DETAILS:

On Friday, March 23rd, approximately 1:37am, Officers were dispatched to the EZ Shop on Mac Arthur Boulevard regarding “shots heard” in the area. When Officers arrived, they located evidence in the parking lot of the EZ Shop that suggested a shooting had, indeed, taken place. This evidence included shell casings (consistent with semi-automatic gunfire) and blood. There were no victims at the scene, so Officers had our Communications personnel contact local hospitals for potential victims.

While Officers were interviewing witnesses, Highland Hospital personnel called and said a male subject, identified as Jerry Jordan (29), came into the hospital with a gunshot wound. An Officer was sent to Highland and made contact with Mr. Jordan. When our Officer interviewed Mr. Jordan, he told the Officer that he’d been shot in Oakland. Jordan denied being shot in San Leandro.

Witnesses at the scene said there was a confrontation between two black male adults and at least one black female adult associated to a silver car, possibly a Jaguar, and another black car. There was very limited information provided by witnesses regarding the shooting and by the time Officers arrived, all of the involved parties were gone.

The San Leandro Police Department did not receive any other phone calls from local hospitals regarding potential shooting victims. There are no victims that have contacted the San Leandro Police Department and no further suspect information at this time.
