On Sunday, March 11, 2012, Northfield Township Police assisted the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department in West Virginia in executing a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Apple Blossom CT in Northfield Township. The request came after authorities in Putnam County arrested a 33 year old Whitmore Lake resident for allegedly traveling from Michigan to West Virginia to meet up with a 12 year old girl for the purpose of engaging in sex after meeting her online. Detectives in Putnam County West Virginia say the suspect and the young female were caught together just minutes from the girl's home. Detectives say that, as they were preparing to issue an amber alert for the 12 year old girl, Deputies found the couple in a vehicle with the suspect in the back seat with the victim. The suspect was arrested and lodged at a county jail in West Virginia. He is charged with Sex Abuse by a Parent or Guardian and 3rd Degree Sexual Assault.
Detectives from Putnam County Sheriff’s Department traveled to Michigan to gather the evidence taken from the suspect's residence during the search warrant. The case is still on-going in West Virginia to determine if there are any additional victims.
