Fruitport Township Fire Department has an important message for you! Please remember to replace smoke detector batteries.

With spring ahead time change upon us, the Fruitport Fire Department would like to remind residents to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

Statistics have shown fire related fatalities in homes without working smoke detectors present are twice as high as homes with them.

Studies conducted between 2005 - 2009 show missing or disconnected batteries as the number one reason that smoke detectors failed to operate in home structure fires. Dead or discharged batteries was the second reason for failure.
