Tustin's Tip of the Month: CRIMINALS BEWARE: TUSTIN HAS JOIN OC CRIME STOPPERS

The Orange County Crime Stoppers program (OC Crime Stoppers) helps resolve, reduce and prevent crime by enabling citizens to safely report criminal activity to law enforcement through anonymous crime tips. Any information sent assures the anonymity of the tipster so there is no fear of reprisal or hard feelings among friends or family members.

The Phone Call or Text
Calls are received at a Call Center using a toll free number: 1-855-TIP-OCCS. All phone lines are encrypted and no phone calls are ever recorded. Tips are then sent onto OC Crime Stoppers for further evaluation. By guaranteeing a caller's anonymity, Crime Stoppers allows the caller to provide information without fear of retaliation.

You can also text "OCCS" and the message to 274637 and receive the same anonymity that you would if you called or used the online web tip.

The Online WebTip
Tipsters now have the option of giving us tips online. The process is completely secure and anonymous and is a very effective and efficient means of safely communicating with us in today's world.
The very unique integrated Two-Way Dialog capabilities allow the tipster to come back and provide additional information to their tip at any time, but also provide a secure means for the coordinator to ask questions or provide reward information back to the tipster through the same secure and encrypted interface.

There are more than 300 Crime Stoppers organizations in the United States and over 1,400 worldwide. This program has proven to be an asset to any community, with over 850,000 arrests made, over 1.2 million crimes cleared, and $8 billion in property and drugs recovered in the last 33 years.

SO REMEMBER:
Tips on crime and criminals can now be sent the modern way: by text message.

Tips can also be sent by e-mail or the old fashioned way: by a telephone call.

The number to remember is easy: (1-855-TIP-OCCS).

This is just the beginning of a new way for the public to join the fight against crime and it will hopefully mean the end to criminals in Tustin!
