Fruitport Township Police Department Seeking Charges After Single-Car Crash - Airline / Sheridan

Fruitport Township Police Department is seeking charges on a 40-year-old male subject involved in an early morning one-car traffic crash near Airline and Sheridan in Fruitport Township. The subject left the scene of the crash and had a suspended driver's license. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Police were called to the scene by a passerby who observed the vehicle off the roadway near this intersection. The witness observed a male subject and a female subject in the vehicle. The male subject was the driver. The witness left the scene after contacting police.

Police arrived to find the vehicle partially submerged in water in the ditch. The occupants had exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Multiple calls were received indicating persons matching the description were hitchhiking near the area on eastbound I-96. Officers from multiple agencies searched the area but were unable to locate the subjects.

An Ottawa County Deputy located the subjects matching their description walking in the area of 112th / Leonard near the Nunica exit. The male subject was arrested at the scene for charges in Ottawa County and for an outstanding warrant out of Oceana County.

Fruitport Township Police Department is seeking charges on the male subject through the Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office.
