Police have recovered property stolen from Lowe's in Fruitport Township.

At approximately 0335 Hours on Monday, February 13, 2012, police contact with two subjects in the 2300 block of S. Getty resulted in the recovery of stolen property from the Lowe’s store located at 2035 E. Sherman in Fruitport Township.

An officer from Muskegon Heights Police Department observed a pickup truck traveling northbound in the 2300 block of S.Getty. The pickup truck, driven by a 30 year old Muskegon man, was pulling a John Deere lawn tractor behind it. A 40-year old Muskegon Heights man was riding the lawn tractor. When the officer made contact with the subjects, the officer also discovered a new generator in the back of the pickup. Price tags and literature for these items were also discovered.

Follow-up investigation by troopers from Michigan State Police and officers from Fruitport Township Police Department confirmed these items had been stolen from the Lowes store in Fruitport Township. The items had been displayed in front of the building, secured with locked heavy-duty security cables. A cut padlock was discovered at the scene.

The two male subjects were arrested and lodged at the Muskegon County Jail. Their names are not being released, pending arraignment.
