Burglaries Decline in Huntsville

Huntsville, Alabama (February 9, 2012) Huntsville Police Chief Mark Hudson says burglaries continue to decrease in the City of Huntsville. There were 261 reported in November 2011 compared to 225 burglaries reported in December 2011, a 13.8% decrease. In January 2012, there were 172 burglaries reported in Huntsville, this is a 34% decrease from November 2011.

Reductions

November 2011- 261 Burglaries (220 Residential & 41 Commercial)

December 2011- 225 Burglaries (187 Residential & 38 Commercial) 13.8% Reduction from November 2011
January 2012 – 172 Burglaries (141 Residential & 31 Commercial) 34% Reduction from November 2011

Comparison

January 2011 – 221 Burglaries (178 Residential & 43 Commercial)

January 2012 – 172 Burglaries (141 Residential & 31 Commercial) 22% Reduction compared to January 2011.

Police Chief Mark Hudson said “We appreciate our citizens being vigilant and conscientious in securing their property. These actions directly contributed to the reduction in burglaries. We appreciate our local businesses for being more attentive and reporting any suspicious activity they observe. We thank our Burglary Task Force Investigators and all of our Police Officers for their tireless efforts in solving burglaries and arresting burglary offenders.”
