Repeat Offender/Teen Arrested
On Wednesday, at approximately 8:25 p.m, CHP Officer Joe Gilbert was on routine patrol on Sebastopol Rd at Stony Point Rd, when he ran a registration check on a Toyota sedan. The registration returned expired in 2005, but the plates had 2012 stickers displayed. The officer made an enforcement stop on the vehicle, and contacted the driver. The officer immediately noted the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was unable to provide a license, insurance, or registration. He was identified with an ID card as Scott Wakeman, 37, of Santa Rosa. Wakeman failed field sobriety tests, and was taken into custody. A records check revealed that Wakeman has two prior DUI convictions, in 2010 and 2011, and his license has 7 suspensions. Wakeman was booked on charges of Dui, driving while suspended, and violation of probation.
Earlier, at approximately 5:00 p.m, CHP Officer Crandon Kopriva was on patrol on Mirabel Rd in Forestville, when he observed an Acura SUV approaching his location. He noted that the Acura was tailgating another vehicle, and swerving onto the shoulder. The officer made a u-turn and stopped the vehicle on Davis Ln. The officer contacted the driver, who showed signs of intoxication. The 17 year old female driver gave the officer her name, but could not remember her address. A 17 year old female passenger was also in the vehicle. The officer began a DUI evaluation, and the driver was subsequently arrested. The passenger’s mother responded to the scene. The driver was transported to the Rohnert Park CHP office. It was determined that she was approximately 3 times over the legal limit for an adult. The driver was charged with DUI, and transporting a minor in violation of her provisional license. She was released to the custody of her parents.
