Palmdale Transportation Center Closed due to suspicious device found at center.
Palmdale Station is advising the community that the Palmdale Transportation Center, located at 39000 Clock Tower Plaza Dr., has been temporarily closed and evacuated after a suspicious package was found near the center around 4:30PM.
Palmdale Station received a 911 call from a security guard at the location indicating a patron had notified him of a suspicious device in a bag was near the bus depot. When Palmdale Deputies arrived at the scene they began evacuating the transportation center and coordinating with Metrolink and AVTA officials to divert incoming buses and trains.
At this moment, the Sheriff's Department Arson Explosives unit is on their way to the center to investigate the device. All access to the Transportation Center has been has been closed including the parking lot of the area.
Metrolink trains will be stopped at the Vincent Hill Station in Acton and passengers will be transported via buses to either the Lancaster Metrolink Station or Desert Sands Park, located at 39117 3rd Street East, in the City of Palmdale. Palmdale City officials have opened the recreation room at the park to allow displaced commuters a warm place to wait until the transportation center is reopened.
A follow up Nixle message will be issued when the Transportation Center has been reopened.
