A Flood Watch is in effect for California Borough.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a
Flood watch for Washington County from 1 pm est this afternoon through late tonight.

A storm system is expected to move over the region today and tonight. Heavy rain may fall this afternoon and this evening.

One to two inches of rain is possible from this system. With the ground already wet from previous rains and snowmelt earlier this week, The Threat Of flooding on small streams and creeks is possible. There will also be strong rises on the rivers in the watch area as well. Some rivers may reach action or flood stage by Friday or Friday night.

Precautionary/preparedness actions,
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
