During the academy, residents can learn about police tactics and meet police officers. The academy is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 9 to May 24 at the police station, 300 Centennial Way in Tustin.
Topics include an introduction to the criminal justice system, detective bureau and crime investigations, traffic division, use of force and levels of escalation, narcotic enforcement and drug operations, SWAT, K-9 demonstrations, gang unit and street gangs, chaplain program and crime scene investigations.
