A Century station patrol unit recently observed two suspects acting suspiciously in an alley. As the deputies got closer, the suspects quickly separated from one another and attempted to disassociate themselves from a parked vehicle. One of the suspects quickly discarded a loaded handgun underneath the vehicle. Both suspects were then detained pending a narcotics and weapons investigation. During a pat down of the second suspect, the deputies felt and recovered a loaded handgun from his waistband area. Both suspects were also found to be in possession of marijuana. Both suspects admitted to possessing the loaded firearms for their protection. The detection and arrest of armed persons by Century station personnel has contributed to the overall reduction of violent crime.
