INCIDENT: Aggravated Assault/Attempted Armed Robbery
DATE: January 11, 2012
LOCATION: Gantt’s Food Store, 1033 Franklin Road
SUSPECT: black male, 5’10”, medium build, wearing a red and blue scarf and red gloves


At approximately 2300 hours on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, the Marietta Police Department responded to a ‘person shot’ call at the Gantt’s Food Store, located at 1033 Franklin Road. Upon arrival, officers located a store employee with a gunshot wound to his right arm; the employee was transported to Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment of the non-life-threatening injury to his arm.

The subsequent investigation lead to the recovery of video of the incident from the store’s security system. The video shows the suspect –a black male approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build- enter the store wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket and dark pants, red gloves and a red-and-blue scarf to obscure his face. Upon entering the store, the suspect immediately brandished a silver-colored semiautomatic pistol, pointed the weapon at the fleeing clerk and fired one shot, striking the clerk in the arm. The suspect then tried (unsuccessfully) to open both of the cash registers behind the sales counter. After his failed attempt to gain entry to the registers, the suspect then fled the store on foot.
