CERT Training - February 4 & 11

Rockwall County has now formed a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) with the EastTex Regional Program. EastTex Regional CERT Program covers Rockwall County, Southeast Collin County and has volunteer response in the Kaufman County area.

The CERT program teaches emergency preparedness and basic disaster response techniques that will prepare citizen volunteers to take an active role in providing critical support for family and neighbors prior to the arrival of professional first responders during emergencies. The next open training session is scheduled for two consecutive Saturdays in February and will be held on February 4th and 11th from 8am - 5pm at the Fate Fire Station. The course will be taught by certified FEMA instructors and have hands-on indoor/outdoor activities.

The CRI volunteer program is going to be merged into the CERT program. Merging the two programs will allow efficient allocation of limited resources and will allow us to cover additional emergency preparedness topics required by the CRI program. Volunteers interested in joining the CERT Team must attend the two Saturday Training classes. You do not have to join the CERT team to remain or become a CRI volunteer.

If you would like additional information regarding the volunteer opportunities or upcoming training, please call our office at 972-204-7080.
