**News Release** Sheriff's detectives seeks public's assistance in identifying the rapist of a 14-year-old girl

On Monday evening January 02, 2012, a fourteen year old Hispanic female was sexually assaulted in the 17000 block of Main St. La Puente. The victim was approached by the suspect believed to be a male Hispanic of Guatemalan descent, approximately 18-22 years old, 5’05”-5’07”, 150-160 lbs., black hair worn in a distinctive “faux hawk”, and a smooth face. The victim recognized the suspect who was at her apartment complex visiting ex-coworkers who could only identify him as "Michael." The suspect engaged the victim in conversation and accompanied her as she walked to the trash dumpsters, there he pulled her behind a wall and sexually assaulted her. The suspect then fled the location onto Main St., and out of view.

Detectives from the Special Victims Bureau are asking for the public’s assistance in locating and identifying the suspect.
