Officer Involved Shooting - 3700 Penelope

On December 28, 201, at 9:59 pm., Southeast Division patrol officers were dispatched to a suspicious person call. The call originated from a citizen who reported a suspicious vehicle with dark tinted windows was parked near the intersection of Penelope and Cross Streets. Officer Gregory Ceraso, #9415 arrived at the location at 10:04 pm and located the suspicious vehicle. The officer approached the vehicle and saw a handgun inside of the vehicle. The passenger of the suspicious vehicle, Cedric Stephens, B/M/29 reached for the hand gun. Fearing for his safety, the officer fired his weapon striking the suspect. The suspect is deceased. The 2nd suspect was not injured. No officers were injured.

Office Ceraso has been an employee of the Dallas Police Department for 3 years, 8 months and is assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. He has been placed on Administrative leave as dictated by departmental policy while the investigation into the incident continues.
