Winter AVOID the 100 LA County Law Enforcement Agencies: Anti-DUI Campaign (Update #8)
DUI Arrests Continue to Rise Compared to Last Year
The Winter Holiday Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 100 DUI deployments overnight in Los Angeles County.
From 12:01 AM Friday December 16, 2011 through Midnight Sunday December 25, 2011 officers representing 100 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 1,506 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2010, 1,260 DUI arrests occurred during the same ten-day time period.

Over the course of the next week of the campaign, the following enforcement will be conducted:
Saturday, December 31
DUI Checkpoint –Avoid the 100 (East) Multi-Agency (Including Monterey Park, Alhambra, San Gabriel, Montebello, and Bell Gardens)
DUI Checkpoint – LAPD – Pacific area
DUI Patrol – Avoid the 100 (East) Multi-Agency (Including the cities of Glendora, Pomona, Claremont, La Verne, Covina, Azusa, Irwindale, CHP and LAPD)
DUI Patrol – Avoid the 100 (East) Multi-Agency (Including Glendale, South Pasadena, Pasadena, Burbank, San Marino, and San Fernando.)
DUI Patrol – Avoid the 100 (West) – (El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Redondo Beach and Torrance)
DUI Patrol – Avoid the 100 (East) Multi-Agency – (Including officers from Baldwin Park, West Covina, Baldwin Park School Police, El Monte, Monrovia, Arcadia and Sierra Madre)
DUI Patrol – CHP Antelope Valley
DUI Patrol – CHP Newhall
DUI Patrol – LASD – Bellflower
DUI Patrol – LASD – Compton

All regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus their efforts at stopping and arresting DUI drivers during normal shifts. The CHP will deploy all available officers during the final nights of their Maximum Enforcement Period this holiday weekend beginning Friday.
Multiple DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints, Multi Agency DUI Task Force operations and local Roving DUI patrols are all part of this region-wide crackdown during the 17-day Winter Holiday Campaign.
Police, Sheriff and CHP encourage all motorists to help make the holidays safer: Report Drunk Drivers – Call 911. DUI arrest data collection will continue through New Year’s Weekend, midnight Sunday, January 1, 2012. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety http://www.ots.ca.gov/ , through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration http://www.nhtsa.gov/
