Sylmar: On December 14th, 2011 at approximately 1:15 a.m. an assault with a vehicle occurred on San Fernando Road south of Polk Street. A pedestrian identified as Lidia Carranza, 22 year old, resident of Pacoima was in the roadway and was struck by a 2004 Nissan Sentra driven by Julio Cesar Alvarado Monasterio, 22 year old, resident of Panorama City.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to the local hospital where she died from the result of her injuries. The suspect remains outstanding and possibly fled to Mexico. The vehicle has been found.
