Tow truck driver shot, suspect arrested in the Macarthur Blvd. area

Early this morning at approximately 1:30am Superior Township deputies responded to a call in the 9000 block of Macarthur Blvd for shots fired. Upon arrival deputies found that a tow truck driver had been struck in the foot and the suspect had fled the scene.

During the investigation deputies discovered that the tow truck drivers had just returned to the Danbury Park Manor Apartment complex after previously towing a vehicle and encountering a disgruntled owner of the vehicle they were attempting to tow. After towing the vehicle they returned to the complex and subsequently attempted to leave the area. As they drove there were 3 shots fired at the tow truck.

The victim is a 31 year old Ypsilanti Township resident and employee of Discount Towing. The second tow truck employee was uninjured. Detectives continued the investigation early this morning and were able to identify and arrest a 25 year old Superior Township resident.

The suspect was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail where he is currently awaiting arraignment.
