Prescription Pill Turn In

During a recent Hocking County Opiate Task Force meeting, the discussion turned to the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office participation in the semi-annual prescription drug turn-in programs in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). This year, the Sheriff’s Office collected over 23 pounds of prescription medication in the spring 26.5 pounds in October. This discussion was used as an example in which we as a community can reduce the amount of opiates from getting into the wrong hands for potential abuse.

Although this program has been held semi-annually, Hocking County Sheriff Lanny North would like to announce that his office will accept medications being dropped off anytime. Persons who have prescription drugs to turn in should bring them to the Sheriff’s Office located at 25 E. Second Street Logan, OH for disposal. The Sheriff’s Office will then turn over the medications to the DEA for disposal.

The Sheriff’s Office serves on the Hocking County Opiate Task Force recently formed. North encourages everyone to get involved in helping to combat the opiate and drug problem in our community.
