Sheriff Scott Berry announces the arrest of Jeremy Wetzel (24) of Clotfelter Road on a charge of Child Molestation, 16-6-4 (a)(2) O.C.G.A., which is the sending of electronic images of a sexual nature and not a physical act.

On December 7, 2011, Oconee County School System officials contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report a serious allegation concerning Wetzel, a now former paraprofessional at North Oconee High School, and a female juvenile student. School system officials were on scene at North Oconee and cooperated with and facilitated the Sheriff’s Office investigation into this matter. Within the hour of the system’s notification to the Sheriff’s Office, Wetzel was taken into custody, and he is being held at the Oconee County Jail.

This incident remains other investigation and other charges may be brought as the investigation unfolds. He will be held without bond pending his first appearance in front of a judge.
