Compton Station helps ex-convicts re-integrate into society

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Compton Station, along with the community, have come together, to create two successful programs to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the community.

Recognizing the need to help ex-convicts re-integrate into society after servingtime, Compton Station partnered with Faith Inspirational Baptist Church and initiated “Project Restoration.” This program reaches out to the men and women who are currently on parole in the City of Compton. The objective of this program is to combat the repetition of undesirable behavior by these men and women.

Project Restoration is a twelve-week program which provides instruction on leadership, relationships, parenting, and employment. Participants gain new skills as they spend three weeks in each of the above courses. The classes are designed to give each student a new outlook on these topics, which are taught with the belief that if the mind can change, thoughts can change, and the actions will change.

This program has shown great success. Currently, over 20 men and women have graduated from this program thus far.
