LACoFD News Release: RED FLAG WARNING. Also links to LAWinds & related information.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department has received notification from the National Weather Service that predicted weather conditions constitute a "Red Flag Warning."

Gusty Northeast winds and low relative humidity can be expected for most of Los Angeles County from Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon. Predicted wind gusts up to 70 mph are expected and will result in a high fire danger throughout Los Angeles County.

In response to the increased fire danger, Los Angeles County Fire Chief, Daryl L. Osby, has ordered additional staffing and the predeployment of resources throughout Los Angeles County. In addition he reminds citizens in brush areas to take appropriate precautions. These precautions include, but are not limited to:

Ø Report any sign of smoke immediately to your local fire department by dialing 911 (If you dial 911 from your cellular phone, KNOW YOUR LOCATION)

Ø Use extreme caution when operating spark or flame producing machinery in hazardous grass or brush areas.

Ø If you live in a brush area, you should have a Wildfire Action Plan in place. Be familiar with the Ready! Set! Go! program that provides important pre-planning and evacuation information to residents. Go to www.fire.lacounty.gov for more information.

Ø Report any suspicious persons or vehicles to law enforcement.

This latest Red Flag Warning is expected to last from Monday morning, December 5, 2011 until Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 2011.
