Advisory

Starting tonight, MTPD assigning extra DWI patrols through the holiday season to keep our roadways safe from impaired drivers.

DWI PATROLS FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

The period of time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day is the most dangerous time of the year on the road. This is primarily due to an increased number of impaired drivers. Beginning tonight through the end of the holiday season, the Morris Township Police Dept., will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints.

Sobriety checkpoints will be held in conjunction with saturation patrol by officers for the purpose of detecting and removing impaired drivers from our roadways. The goal is to discourage people from driving impaired. It is also intended to promote awareness and to keep our roadways safe for the citizens of Morris Township throughout the holiday season.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to adhere to two basic principles when consuming alcohol. Do not drink and drive and always use a designated driver. Following these simple principles could save your life or the life of someone you love.

If you encounter a suspected impaired driver, call 911 and be prepared to give a description of the vehicle, location and direction of travel.

Have a safe holiday season.
