Alert

Burglary Suspect Held for Trial

On Friday, 28 October 2011 at approximately 1:09 PM, an alert resident in your community observed an unknown male in the rear yard of a neighbor’s home in the 100 block of Deer Run Road. The resident IMMEDIATELY called 911 to report her observation and within minutes, officers arrived to the area. The suspicious male fled through several yards and hid from police. A police K9 was dispatched to the scene and successfully tracked the suspect. The suspect was wearing latex gloves and possessed a crow bar. Due to the observations of the alert resident, police located a home that the suspect had been in the process of breaking into.

It was later determined that the suspect had been knocking at doors handing out flyers advertising his willingness to do lawn work. This type of ruse is a common method for burglars to identify houses where no one is home. The suspect has been charged with Attempt Burglary and related charges.

The willingness of the alert resident to quickly pick up a phone and call 911 is the reason that the police succeeded in apprehending a burglar in your neighborhood. If solicitors knock at your door, or if you see an unknown person on your neighbor’s property, please notify 911 IMMEDIATELY.
