Full Notification

On November 4, 2011, at approximately 1130 hours, a fatal train versus pedestrian traffic collision occurred at San Fernando Rd and Van Nuys Blvd, in Pacoima. A pedestrian walking eastbound on the sidewalk was struck by a southbound Union Pacific freight train as she crossed the tracks. Witnesses stopped and called 911.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at scene by Los Angeles City Fire Dept personnel. She is only identified as a 72 year old female hispanic, of Van Nuys, pending next of kin notifications by the Coroners office.

The investigation is continuing and Valley Traffic detectives are searching for witnesses who may have observed the collision.
