Due to fire weather conditions, burning is NOT allowed today. Therefore, burning in barrels, debris piles, and grass or wooded areas with your annual permit is prohibited. Campfires, though strongly discouraged, are permitted if used solely for cooking or warming purposes, but please use extreme caution.

From the Daily Tribune:
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will suspend burning permits through the weekend because of weather conditions, the state agency announced today.

Today’s fire danger is moderate, according to a notice from the DNR’s Nekoosa Fire Response Unit.

Meanwhile, burning of clean wood for camp fires within Wisconsin Rapids city limits is authorized today, according to the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRING DRY PLEASANT WEATHER FOR EARLY NOVEMBER WITH TEMPERATURES AT OR ABOVE NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO PICK UP ON SATURDAY AND REMAIN STRONG THROUGH SUNDAY AS A STRONG STORM MOVES FROM THE NORTHERN PLAINS INTO CANADA. MEANWHILE ANOTHER STRONG STORM WILL BRING A SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION EVENT TO THE AREA LATE MONDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY. PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS OVER AN INCH ARE POSSIBLE DURING THIS PERIOD DEPENDING ON THE TRACK OF THE
STORM WHILE SOME OF THE PRECIPITATION COULD FALL AS SNOW.

Remember that all areas of Wood County are not covered in the DNR Protection Area but conditions are the same throughout the area so caution is advised wherever you are.
