Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team Places 5th in Multi-Agency SWAT Competition
Modesto, CA –Members of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team recently participated in a multi-agency training exercise designed to challenge the skills, knowledge and abilities of tactical teams. Hosted by Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern and organized with the assistance of Federal, State and local public safety partnerships, Urban Shield brought together 31 teams from all over California, the United States, Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan. Urban Shield is a one-of-a-kind multi-disciplinary, multi-jurisdictional full scale exercise designed to assess the ability of the region to effectively respond to a large scale, man-made and/or natural disaster. According to Sheriff Greg Ahern, “This exercise improved our regional disaster response capabilities and provided a platform for first responders, both nationally and internationally, to work efficiently and effectively together”.
“I want to thank Sheriff Greg Ahern for his leadership and willingness to expand regional collaboration and preparedness levels for all first responders” said Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson who was also extremely proud of his team’s ranking in the competition. Out of 31 teams, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s SWAT Team placed 5th beating out many other full time teams from throughout California and the nation. “Our team worked very hard and their score is proof that they’re a well trained, highly skilled team of dedicated tactical law enforcement officers”, said the Sheriff.
