Sheriff’s Office Deputies Attempting to Get Suicidal Person to Surrender

Modesto, CA – Sheriff’s deputies responded to a suicidal person near the intersection of Crowslanding Rd and Grayson Rd on Thursday evening at around 6:00 PM. When deputies arrived they found a male subject sitting in his vehicle parked next to a golf course. The male subject got out of his car several times threatening to kill himself. At one point he was seen holding an object to his chest, the object was believed to have been a Zip Gun.

As deputies tried to get him to surrender the male subject began to drive away. Deputies tried to keep him contained and he rammed a Sheriff’s Office vehicle. He drove to the 5300 Block of A Street where he ran into a residence and barricaded himself. The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team has surrounded the residence and a hostage negotiator has been speaking with him for a couple hours trying to get him to surrender to deputies.
