RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT ARREST ANNAPOLIS

On October 13, 2011, at approximately 5:21 p.m., officers from the Eastern District responded to the 1100 block of River Bay Road in Annapolis for a report of shots fired. A citizen reported hearing several gunshots coming from a residence.

Upon arrival, officers observed an exterior detached garage door open. The garage, which was located near the roadway and neighboring residences, had a metal water heater inside in the back of the structure near the roadway. Officers made contact with the homeowner, who indicated that he had been shooting at the water heater earlier with his handgun after filling it with sand. Officers retrieved the handgun for evidentiary purposes.

While speaking with the resident, officers observed several citizens in the area directly across from the scene, who were potentially been in the line of fire. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Eastern District station, where he was charged with Reckless Endangerment and Discharging a Firearm Within 100 Yards of an Occupied Structure.
