OCSO mourns the death of Deputy Sheriff Sergeant John Graham who passed unexpectedly.
Statement from Sheriff John Whetsel regarding the passing of Sgt. John Graham:
"Deputy John Graham died unexpectedly Wednesday (October 12, 2011) morning at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital where he was being treated for heart issues. We will miss John and his grand and jovial sense of humor, his laugh and consistently bad jokes.
John served in law enforcement for 46 years. John worked for the Oklahoma City Police Department from March 1, 1963 until retiring after 20 years of service on March 1, 1983. One month after retiring he joined the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office where he served for another 26 years.
John was a member and past president of the Retired Peace Officers Association and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
John received the OCSO Sheriff's Award in 2000 and was named Judicial Services Bureau Employee Of The Year in 2003.
He is survived by his wife Sue, one daughter, and two granddaughters. Please keep his family in your prayers."
Graham was 73 years old.
