According to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the fire danger for today is moderate.

Fires start from a match or burning embers, spread quickly in dry grass or leaves. Burn with extreme caution.

The Wisconsin Rapids fire protection area includes Adams and Portage counties, as well as parts of Juneau, Wood and Marathon counties.

Burning is being allowed with burning permits.

As of Friday, there have been 67 wild fires in the Wisconsin Rapids fire protection area, burning 57.46 acres.

With the above average temperatures that are forecast for this week everyone should be aware of this fire danger index and be alert in DNR Intensive Fire Danger areas. Also remember your local jurisdiction may have burning regulations that you need to be aware of if you are outside of the DNR area.
