Brandishing a Firearm & Driving Under the Influence
Location: Chevron & the Washington Square Shopping Center lot
Suspect(s): Steven Bills, age 47, Petaluma resident
Summary: Bills was at the Chevron station adjacent to Washington Square when a 17 year old female in another vehicle pointed a child’s plastic toy “laser” pistol at Bills as a joke (the toy laser pistol did not resemble an actual weapon). Bills followed the other vehicle into Washington Square, pulled alongside it, and pointed an actual firearm at the girl and her friends. He then drove off. The victim provided the plate of Bills’s car to PPD dispatch. PPD officers detained Bills without incident as he arrived at his home on the 1600 block of Rainier Avenue. He was subsequently arrested for brandishing a firearm, and for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into County Jail.
