Deputy arrests suspect following pursuit. Suspect found to be drinking and tossed evidence during pursuit.
(Oklahoma City) September 19, 2011 around 2:00am an Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office deputy noticed a vehicle swerve near I-44 & NW 23rd Street. The deputy attempted to stop the driver of the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit the deputy noticed the driver toss out some plastic bags on SW 15th Street.
The pursuit came to an end just off I-44 & SW 15th at an apartment complex. The driver, Curtis Lee Branch (d.o.b. 02/03/1977), was taken into custody. The deputy found that Branch had a smell of alcohol on his breath, there was an open container of alcohol in the car, Branch was driving with a suspended license, a green leafy substance inside the vehicle was collected as evidence, and the deputy recovered the plastic bags wich also contained a green leafy substance.
Branch was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of:
*Eluding a police officer
*Driving under suspension
*Possession of a controlled dangerous substance
*Transporting an open container
Branch is curently being held on $13,000.00 bond.
