Suspect surrenders following 2 hour standoff.

(Oklahoma City) September 14, 2011 Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies attempted to serve a warrant for Jose G. Cruz (d.o.b. 06/27/1985) in the 1600 block of SW 47th Street in Oklahoma City just after 1pm. Cruz had an outstanding warrant for first degree robbery. Deputies were conducting surveillance on the house when they noticed Cruz outside of the home. At some point Cruz noticed the deputies and ran inside the house.

Deputies with assistance from the ATF, U.S. Marshal's, and OKC PD surrounded the house. Deputies fired several rounds of pepper spray inside the house, and after nearly 2 hours Cruz walked out and surrendered. There was no one else inside the house. Cruz is currently being booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.

OCSO deputies with assistance from several metro area agencies have been participating in Operation Street Sweep rounding up dangerous felons with outstanding warrants. Cruz's arrest is the result of Operation Street Sweep.
