Hurricane Irene Relief Efforts

The Chappaqua Fire Department/ Millwood Fire Company to collect supplies at Community Day for relief needs due to Hurricane Irene. We will be collecting items during Community Day from 1130 AM and will continue until 230PM. Please see below as to what is needed.

Clothing - They are seeking donations of general clothing items for the families who lost everything. They are looking for fall clothing now, but eventually they will be needing winter clothing as well. The National Guard and Red Cross workers welcomed a clean t-shirt to change into after working in the dusty and silt filled buildings so basically - everything is welcome.

Bedding - Bedding items (sheets, blankets, pillows) were requested to help provide for folks temporarily displaced that are staying with neighbors.
Personal Hygiene Items - One of the items in immediate need is personal hygiene items and new underwear/socks.

General Household Items - Once they finish distributing the clothing items they will be seeking general household goods and furniture. They just don't have the room to store any large items now so only small household items are being accepted now (plates, cooking/kitchen supplies).

Cleaning Supplies - Cleaning supplies are obviously in need (cleaning products, mops, brooms, buckets. etc.). Antibacterials.

Heavy Cleaning / Demolition Items - Demolition and cleaning items including work gloves, dust masks, industrial barbage bags, buckets, mops, brooms, shovels, Rubber Boots.

We plan to have a trailer near our fire apparatus in the train station on the through street(Allen Place) to make it easy to drop off supplies.
