Hurricane Irene Update #4

Most current reports from NWS are leaning to the following:

Most likely track for the storm appears to continue to be off the coast. This is good news for Berks/Lehigh

Heaviest rain/wind in Berks/Lehigh Saturday night into Sunday AM with most rain ending around noon Sunday

Rain totals among the various forecast groups have now normalized somewhat and there is agreement that totals are somewhat reduced to 3-6” across the Berks/Lehigh county.

Winds remain a concern with sustained winds in excess of 30 mph and gusts over 50 mph forecast

Small stream and urban flooding, particularly localized, remains almost a certainty

At this time, the primary focus appears to be on small stream and creek and urban flooding. Also, the potential for lengthy power outages is very high.
