Fingerprint Leads to Burglary Arrest

On 01 Oct 10 at 1500hrs, a victim reported a residential burglary to her residence by an unkown subject. Forced entry was made via a kitchen window and latent fingerprints were recovered from the window by the police. Stolen was money and jewelry.
On 26 Apr 11, the Illinois State Police contacted JPD detectives and advised that the fingerprints had been identified as Michael Ilkanic's. Michael was currently incarcerated for committing a burglary in Hickory Hills. The HHPD recovered the victims jewelry during another burglary and she was able to positively identify the items as her's.
On 16 Aug 11, JPD detectives arrested Ilkanic, 25 years of age of Hickory Hills. He submitted a written statement admitting to the burglary. He was later charged with Residential Burglary.
