On the night of May 25, 2011, a 32-year old male Hispanic gang member, and resident of East Los Angeles, was shot in the back and shoulder while driving his vehicle at Olympic Boulevard and Ditman Avenue, East Los Angeles (unincorporated).

The victim was accompanied by his 18-year old male Hispanic relative.

The suspect in the attempted murder, shot approximately six to seven times and East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station patrol Deputies Adrian Rendon and David Duran, processed the crime scene-recovering six 9mm “Luger” bullet casings.

Detective Gina Eguia, from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s gang unit, Operation Safe Streets Bureau (OSS), handled the attempt murder investigation and identified the assailant.

On August 4, 2011, OSS personnel surveilled the subject and took him into custody in front of his residence,1200 block of S. Ditman Avenue, Los Angeles. OSS deputies served a search warrant at the subject’s residence and recovered a .38 caliber revolver, 9mm semi
9mm semi automatic handgun, and gang paraphernalia from the subject’s residence.

The subject was transported and booked at East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station.
