Sheriff’s Operation Safe Streets Bureau gang detectives received an investigative tip that narcotics were being sold from a home in the 2100 block of Maple Avenue, in the city of Los Angeles.

Investigation into the tip revealed that the occupants of the home were associated with a local street gang whose turf is in the unincorporated Florence District of South Los Angeles, which is policed by Century Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Probable cause was developed and a search warrant was served by Operation Safe Streets Bureau gang detectives assigned to Century Sheriff’s Station.

Inside the home, detectives found Suspects Victor Ornelas, 34, and Reyes Fuentes, 66, in illegal possession of an unlicensed fully loaded 9mm Colt semi-automatic pistol, dozens of baggies of methamphetamine and cocaine, all packaged in a manner consistent with street sales. The suspects both live at the location.

A three-year-old girl was also in the home in the presence of the evidence, and was taken into protective custody by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The child is related to one of the suspects.

The home from which the narcotics and firearm were seized is next to the Santee Educational Complex (High School).

Both suspects were booked at the Century Regional Detention Facility for sales of narcotics, illegal possession of a handgun, felony child endangering and for sales of narcotics within 1000 feet of a school. Their bail is each set at $50,000.00.
