What is National Night Out?
"It's America's Night Out Against Crime"
The "28th Annual National Night Out" (NNO), a unique crime/drug preventions event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, 2011 nationwide.
Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out in 2010.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Please join us for a wonderful evening at the park celebrating NNO and enjoying a free concert. There will be several different crime prevention and information booths to help prevent you from ever becoming a victim of a crime. There will also be bounce houses for the kids to play in. This is going to be a great Night Out against crime.
For information, please contact the Whittier Sheriff's Sub-Station at 562-903-1874. To view a past NNO in Whittier, please go to the following link:
