STH 34 in Portage County FYI
Old US 10 is closed at the intersection with WIS 34 south (just west of Junction City) for the construction of the US 10/WIS 34 south interchange. Old US 10 between Portage County O and WIS 34 south is only open to local traffic and those motorists with a destination in Junction City.
The south side of the WIS 34 south/US 10 intersection (north of Rudolph, west of Junction City) is closed and detoured. WIS 34 traffic is detoured via WIS 66 and Wood/Portage County O. The closure is necessary to allow for the construction of the remainder of the WIS 34 south interchange. The intersection will remain closed until November 2011.
Wood County

Highway: US 10
Location: White Oak Road to Brookside Road
Schedule: July 11 to mid-December 2011
Cost: $9 million
Description: Crews are constructing a four-lane divided highway between Marshfield and Stevens Point. Crews will construct and prepare this section of the new alignment for concrete paving, which will occur in 2012 under a separate contract.
Traffic impacts: During construction, existing US 10 will remain open to one lane in each direction. Motorists should be alert for trucks crossing and slow moving vehicles. During construction existing US 10 will remain open to one lane in each direction.

Location: Klondike Drive to Wood County BB
Schedule: July 5, 2011 to December 2012
Cost: $12.3 million
Description: Crews are constructing a four-lane divided highway between Marshfield and Stevens Point. This project involves the construction of roundabouts at the US 10/ Klondike Drive/WIS 13 intersection, the new US 10/ County BB intersection, and the Central Avenue/ existing US 10 intersection. Crews will also construct and prepare the new alignment of US 10 for concrete paving.
Traffic impacts: During construction, existing US 10 will remain open to one lane in each direction.
Crews will be working along the east side of US 10/WIS 13 from Klondike Drive to Central Avenue.

Location: Brookside Road to Blenker Road
Schedule: May 23 to November 2011
Cost: $7.8 million
Description: Crews are constructing a four-lane divided highway between Marshfield and Stevens Point. This project involves the construction of a railroad overpass and an overpass over existing US 10. Crews will also construct and prepare the new alignment of US 10 for concrete paving.
Traffic impacts: During construction existing US 10 will remain open to one lane in each direction. Currently the eastbound and westbound shoulders are closed with a concrete barrier and will remain closed until the structures are complete. Wood County F just north of existing US 10 was permanently closed on Friday, July 15 to construct the new alignment of US 10.

Location: Blenker Road to Trestik Road
Schedule: May 23 to mid-November 2011
Cost: $7 million
Description: Crews are constructing a four-lane divided highway between Marshfield and Stevens Point. Crews will construct and prepare this section of the new alignment of US 10 for concrete paving.
Traffic impacts: During construction existing US 10 will remain open to one lane in each direction.

Location: Between Wood County BB and Stadt Road, city of Marshfield
Schedule: June 2, 2010 to November 4, 2011
Cost: $16.6 million
Description: Crews will realign US 10 south of the existing highway. The new section of US 10 will be a four-lane, divided highway with an interchange at the intersection of new US 10 and Wood County A. Crews will also expand WIS 13 to four lanes between US 10 and 29th Street. New bridges will be constructed on Washington Avenue and Wood County A.
Traffic impacts:
Motorists can expect to encounter one lane in each direction on US 10 between Washington Avenue and Stadt Road.
Crews are working along the west side of WIS 13 (Veterans Parkway) from County A to 29th Street.
County A south of the intersection with existing US 10 to Mill Creek Road is closed. Traffic is detoured via County N and WIS 13.

Highway: US 10
Location: Stadt Road to White Oak Road
Schedule: April 18 to November 17, 2011
Cost: $14 million
Description: Crews are expanding 3.7 miles of US 10 to a four-lane expressway. Work also includes reconstructing the intersections of Wood County T and Day Road with US 10, constructing several frontage roads, and constructing new bridges on US 10 at Mill Creek.
Traffic impacts: During construction, US 10 will remain open to two lanes of traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations and brief traffic stops for blasting operations.

North Central Region road construction update
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is providing a weekly update on road construction in North Central Wisconsin, which includes the counties of Adams, Green Lake, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Marquette, Menominee, Oneida, Portage, Price, Shawano, Vilas, Waupaca, Waushara, and Wood.
Construction-related traffic impacts are subject to change and are dependent on favorable weather conditions.

Adams County

Highway: WIS 13
Location: Columbia County line to Golden Avenue
Schedule: August 1 to mid-May 2012
Cost: $5.2 million
Description: Work includes reconstruction of the pavement, rock blasting, culvert pipe and storm sewer work, retaining walls, protected turn lanes, concrete median, and pedestrian underpass with lighting. Operations will be suspended after November 2011 for the winter.
Traffic Impact: During construction, WIS 13 will remain open to traffic. From mid-August to mid-October 2011, all traffic on WIS 13 will be temporarily stopped for blasting operations no more than two times a day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures, flagging operations and may encounter delays during peak travel times.

Green Lake County

Highway: WIS 23 (*updated*)
Location: Old Green Lake Road to County T
Schedule: April 11 to mid-August 2011
Cost: $6.4 million
Description: Reconstruction of WIS 23
Traffic impacts: WIS 23/73 is closed to through traffic. The highway will remain closed until mid-August 2011. During the closure:
WIS 23 traffic will be detoured via County D, WIS 73, County K, and County A.
WIS 73 traffic will be detoured via County D.
WIS 23 and WIS 73 will remain open to local traffic during construction.
Local access to all businesses and properties along WIS 23 will be maintained throughout construction via the nearest side road exit.

Langlade County

Highway: WIS 64
Location: Western Avenue to US 45 north, in the city of Antigo
Schedule: May 16 to October 2011
Cost: $2.6 million
Description: Crews will construct WIS 64 as a two-lane asphalt highway on a new location. The new roadway will begin near Zima Road, run northeast toward an intersection at Hogan Street, and follow the existing roadway along Deleglise Street and Century Avenue to US 45 north.
Traffic impacts: During construction, existing WIS 64 will remain open to traffic. Century Avenue is closed to through traffic. Access to businesses on Century Avenue is available via other local side roads.

Marathon County

Highway: WIS 52 (*updated*)
Location: 18th Avenue to 17th Avenue, city of Wausau
Schedule: May 2 to September 2011
Cost: $2.2 million
Description: Crews will replace WIS 52 concrete pavement and traffic signals at the intersections of 17th Avenue and 18th Avenue, modify turn lanes and islands, and replace concrete pavement on 18th Avenue between WIS 52 and Stewart Avenue.
Traffic impacts: WIS 52 will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter delays. Current traffic impacts:
WIS 52 eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane.
WIS 52 westbound traffic will maintain two through lanes.
18th Avenue north of WIS 52 is closed.
18th Avenue south of WIS 52 is open in the northbound and southbound direction with right-in and right-out turn movements only at WIS 52.
An indirect left-turn lane is provided for WIS 52 westbound traffic to access Stewart Avenue.


Highway: I-39/US 51 and the Foxglove Road overpass (*updated*)
Location: Business 51 interchange (exit 185) to WIS 29 east interchange
Schedule: April 18 to late November 2011
Cost: $8.9 million
Description: Reconstruction of the northbound bridge over Business 51, reconstruction of the Foxglove Road overpass, and pavement replacement on northbound I-39/US 51
Traffic impacts:
The I-39/US 51 northbound on ramp from Business 51 is closed. Traffic is detoured via Business 51 and WIS 29. The on ramp is scheduled to reopen in November 2011.
The Foxglove Road overpass is closed. No detour will be posted. The overpass is scheduled to reopen in late August.
Periodic nighttime closures of I-39/US 51. Traffic will be detoured via Business 51 and WIS 29.
Off-peak, single-lane closures on I-39/US 51.
Single-lane closures on Business 51.
Short-duration nighttime closures of Business 51 between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. will begin Wednesday, August 3.


Highway: WIS 13 (*updated*)
Location: Marshfield to Spencer
Schedule: April 4 to late October 2011
Cost: $12 million
Description: Reconstruction of approximately 4.5 miles of WIS 13 -- between Twenty-Sixth Road and WIS 98 – along with the reconstruction of approximately 2.1 miles of side roads.
Traffic impacts: The highway is open to through traffic. Motorists can still expect to encounter construction and flagging operations. Crews will continue work on several side roads, the WIS 13/County F intersection, and the WIS 13/Willow Drive intersection. Remaining work also includes some paving.

Marquette County

Highway: I-39/US 51
Location: Waushara County D to WIS 21
Schedule: June 27 to late October 2011
Cost: $8.3 million
Description: Crews will resurface the roadway and make safety improvements along the sides of the highway by flattening the slopes.
Traffic impacts: Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures from 6 a.m. Monday to noon on Friday. Both southbound lanes will be open to traffic during the weekends. The speed limit in the work zones is reduced to 55 mph.
Portage County
Highway: Business 51 (*updated*)
Location: Business 51/Minnesota Avenue intersection, in the city of Stevens Point
Schedule: May 16 to mid-September 2011
Cost: $1.1 million
Description: Crews will reconstruct the intersection and improve safety by providing dedicated left-turn lanes on Business 51 for traffic turning onto Minnesota Avenue.
Traffic impacts: The road will remain open to traffic during construction. Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures, flagging operations, and potential delays. Minnesota Avenue east and west of Post Road is closed until Friday, September 16.

Highway: US 10 (*updated*)
Location: Portage County N to Long Road
Schedule: July 16, 2010 to October 2011
Cost: $25 million
Description: Crews will construct a new four-lane freeway. The project includes overpasses at Portage County G and Portage County O and a new interchange with WIS 34 south. Other changes include some local road access modifications and closures.
Traffic impacts: Motorists traveling on US 10 between Marshfield and Stevens Point will need to take the new US 10 bypass of Junction City as the existing highway is closed to through traffic.

Description: Crews will resurface the highway with asphalt, replace culverts, and overlay the bridge deck over US 8 with concrete.
Traffic impacts: During construction, the highway will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter flagging operations and temporary traffic signals.

Shawano County
Highway: WIS 22
Location: WIS 29 to County B, in the city of Shawano
Schedule: May 10 to early November 2011
Cost: $3.7 million
Description: Work includes replacing the WIS 22 bridge over the Wolf River and resurfacing WIS 22 between the WIS 29 interchange and Shawano County CC
Traffic impacts: The WIS 22 bridge will remain closed for the duration of the project. Traffic is detoured via WIS 29 and WIS 47/55. Local access to businesses and side roads will be maintained on the north and south ends of the bridge project at all times. WIS 22 between Shawano County CC and the WIS 29 westbound ramp will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter daytime flagging operations and potential delays.

Waushara County
Highway: WIS 22
Location: Silver Lake Road to the north intersection with Waushara County A
Schedule: August 1 to August 22, 2011
Cost: $226,000
Description: Crews will overlay the existing surface with new asphalt.
Traffic impacts: During construction, WIS 22 will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter daytime lane closure and flagging operations.
