Parental Monitoring of Social Media and the missing 15-year old

A mother called Industry Sheriff’s Station deputies Thursday at 12:45AM and said her 15-year old son was missing.
When asked if she knew where he might be, she said that he had recently met an unknown male adult on social media (Facebook).
They later discovered he had left his West Valinda home without parental permission and they believed it was to meet with the man.
Deputies located the teen walking in the area at approximately 5:00AM. He was unharmed. He was evasive about where he had been and with whom.
Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the incident.
This incident serves as a reminder to parents and guardians to continuously monitor their children’s activities on social media and internet sites.
