Previously convicted child molester arrested at Sorenson Library for Annoying a Person under Sixteen Years-of-Age 
On July 20, 2011, a Deputy from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Parks Bureau arrested a previously convicted child molester at Sorenson Library, located at 6934 Broadway Ave, Whittier, CA 90606.
The deputy was working directed patrol at Sorenson Park, which is adjacent to Sorenson Library, when he saw an older male suspiciously standing over a young boy outside of the Sorenson Library. As the deputy got closer, it appeared the boy was nervous and appeared upset. The deputy immediately stopped and contacted the boy to investigate further. The sixteen year old boy told the deputy that the older male offered to pay him $25.00 dollars if he would go home with him and help him inject his diabetic medication. The boy refused, but the older male continued to persistently ask him to go home with him. The Deputy immediately detained the adult male and discovered he had previous convictions for Lewd or Lascivious Act s on a Child under Fourteen Years-of-Age and Annoying a Person under Sixteen Years-of-Age.
The suspect, Michael Pappas, male, white, forty-eight years of age, and a resident of Whittier was arrested and booked at Pico Rivera Sheriff Station for Annoying a Person under Sixteen Years-of-Age with a previous conviction. He is currently being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
