At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, officers of the Alhambra Police Department were investigating a possible robbery in the rear parking lot of 100 N. First Street when responding police units collided into each other at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Main Street. The injured officers were treated at the scene by Alhambra Fire Department paramedics and transported to a local hospital for further medical examination.
Sadly, one of the officers died as a result of his injuries, the other officer is listed in serious condition.
